These two magnificent coasters were produced by Christofle from 1973. On their surface are fine engravings reproducing the insculpation plates of the Fermiers Généraux. During the reign of Louis XIV, Colbert, Controller General of Finances, decided to better control the production of gold and silverware. To this end, he created the Fermiers Généraux, a group of people in charge of checking objects and affixing different hallmarks according to city and year. These are the hallmarks found on these coasters.
The pieces in the Christofle Vintage Collection are second-hand pieces selected and authenticated by Christofle. They are pieces in good condition and restored in our workshops in Yainville (Normandy)... More information
